Backdoor Bees
The weekend was so lovely, we had a chance to check on the bees as I mentioned. Here they are buzzing in and out of the hive --- using a back entrance! On the opposite side of this, they have a very wide entrance at the base of the hive. Mark says they probably chose this entrance for a number of reasons. There aren't as many bees during winter so the small entrance can accommodate them for now (the bees kill other unproductive bees so they don't eat up all the honey supply and then contribute little or nothing in return).
They are probably congregrated on that side of the hive since the sun is warming it up and so they might come and go this route for convenience. He says once the hive starts growing again as the weather warms, they will likely return to using the big entrance.

I love that you guys have bees. It's so cool. I love to see people nurturing nature; it's too rare here...
That was such an interesting post, Thien. I learned something new today!
it really is an interesting post... i tend to have a fear of them myself, probably stemming back to a wasp attack as a kid...
Saviez vous que l’abeille est condamnée ?
Selon Einstein, l’humanité est condamnée aussi…
Un article inquiétant sur ce site (mais je ne suis pas sur de sa crédibilité)
Thanks for the information!
I’ve got news as well: Bees are disappearing.. along with Mankind (according to A.Einstein)
