State Chili Championship
Bet you thought you'd see a bowl of chili here! Before we drove to San Antonio yesterday (Spurs game, it was amazing!), I asked Mark if we could cruise by the Pecan Bottom at Max Starcke Park in order to see what the crowd was like this weekend. Seguin was the site of the 38th Annual Ladies State Chili Championship and there were a lot of fancy campers out there. We did not have time to walk around and watch the action this year, but maybe next time.
Several other people like ourselves cruised by. I was snapping some shots when this very nice car passed by and I liked it so I decided to include it here. The only thing about unplanned shots is that it's not always exactly as you would like. It would have been nice to get the entire car length in. :)
I'm off traveling again all week but I'll try and post from out of state. Have a great week everyone!

Ah, such a lovely photo; puts me in mind of our 1961 black Corvette with silver side panels. Eventually it was replaced with two kids, a house, and a dog. Oh, if only we had it now; wonder what it would be worth!!?? But, I think the trade-off was a good one since we have two grandkids in addition.
Thanks to your visit and comments re. Peter and Joanne. Great story, isn't it??
Beautiful car! nearly everyon;es dream car. But I am anxious fo rthat chili cookoff. how was it?
Still and all, it's a great candid shot. Nice job.
Cool! Well it does have a chili shape somehow (grin). Even the front is cut, your shot still shows how long the car is.
Kate's comments and your photo reminded me of the many new cars we have owned, including one new 1957 Chevy, and we wish we still had it. But I also remember some 12 cylinder cars with hoods that seemed a mile long to me. Big 1932 Dusenberg's and earlier cars are those I remember with some fondness. I don't see them anymore. Enjoyed your post today.
I like how that car just popped into your photo! I like the angle of it.
I bet there was some delicious chili there, no beans of course, because that's how I've heard Texas does chili, lol.
Enjoy your travels!
Love the car! Have a great week~
I just love reading your memories. It's fun and really nice so thank you for sharing them.
I don't have the article from the paper so I can't tell you who won but I'll update this when I get back home. :)
This is a wonderful car you dont see one like this everyday, great picture.
I agree, GREAT car! I'm sure Billy will enjoy that you snapped a photo of it!
Hey, I know that car! You're famous now, Billy!! =0)
