Perched and watchful
The mockingbirds are active and though they are often harrassing poor Smokey, they haven't really minded us too much. This one has the nest in our front yard, as I posted the other day. How can you tell if it is a male or female, by the way?
Very nice photo! I don't know the answer to your question, but I'll bet that Abe does.
ReplyDeleteThien, my DH went to shool in San Antonio, at Trinity. He has been wanting to visit that area again. I hope that we make it your way sometime!
ReplyDeleteI love those birds, they are very cool. You composed that photo nicely.
ReplyDeleteBTW, male and female look alike.
So, did someone have to buy you a diamond ring?
ReplyDeleteWow. This is a nice photograph of the mocking bird. My son has them in Florida where he lives and they dive bomb his cats. The males almost always have more color or more markings than the female. I can't tell you which this is as we don't have them and I rarely see them.
ReplyDeleteI love how the bird blends so well with the fencing. Never seen a mockingbird before so good to see. Super photo, Thien.
ReplyDeleteNice pic. Glad you had your camera handy. We have these around here too. Over the last couple of weeks all kinds of birds have appeared. We have quite the concert in the mornings.
ReplyDeleteI have got no Idea, only thing I knoe is that I love birds and this composition very more!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone. I appreciate your comments, as usual. These messages you leave brighten my days and I always look forward to seeing what information you share. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteBTW, no diamond ring Kris. :)
ReplyDeleteCan't tell if it's a male or female bird. But the shot is great!
ReplyDeleteEspecially the rows of wood.
Mockingbirds make me think of home, Jackson, Mississippi. And of the one that dive-bombed my Daddy's bird dog back in the mid-1960's. I stood at the kitchen sink and watched as first the bird buzzed the dog then went in for a hard peck to the head, right there in our backyard. What a hoot! I wrote a freshman English theme on it and made an A.
