Sky Watch Friday
You can drive around town and not check out all this activity around another one of our water towers. This one is on Kingsbury Street a few blocks from our house. It is getting a makeover and I like to look at it everyday I drive to and from work. Sometimes the curtain is up, sometimes down. What I love the most is that cool "hat" it has on top. Here's the tower picture I posted in May: Tower. And be sure to check out our new Sky Watch Portal!
I don't think I've ever seen a water tower with a coat and hat before.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's wearing an apron!
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious. I hope your next SWF is about what's underneath.
ReplyDeleteNice.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is, the curtain goes up when they're doing some painting, to keep the excess paint from blowing around and getting on nearby buildings and cars. I'm sure they paint it with blowers, and there's no other way they can stop the wind from messing with their paint job.
This would make a good odd shot aswell as a very strange skywatch.
ReplyDeleteAs I drove by the tower today, I thought "That would actually be a cool picture?!" ha ha ha
ReplyDeleteGlad you thought so too and actually took it!
I love reading your comments! Thank you for stopping by and telling me what you think. :)
ReplyDeleteAlan, you are right. I learned the purpose of the curtain is as you stated.
I don't know how long it will take to complete the task but I will of course post a follow up.
I think the tanks look neat with the curtain.
ReplyDeleteI drove by this yesterday and my daughter noticed it and said, "well that's weird!" I wondered if you'd be posting a photo of it, as I'd seen the photos you posted of a previous one. :0)
ReplyDeleteThat's a really funny picture. At first I thought a tea cozy was photoshopped on, then realized that it was for real!
ReplyDeleteMy contribution to SWF is Sunset pictures after a long day of travel to a remote district.
Hi! It does look bit surreal, but the may picture shows it has great potential to be even more surreal water tower. It has very interesting architecture.
ReplyDeleteFun picture, thanks.
I look forward to seeing this again soon.. like you the hat caught my eye...
ReplyDeleteOn behalf of the Sky Watch team I thank you for posting this week, I hope you get many callers here and that you get the time to visit a few others.
Tom
I must say its different, great capture
ReplyDeleteThe Team thanks you for posting at SW and helping to make this new venture a success.
Ah yes, it reminds "Louis" of grandmother in 1952 with her ruffled apron and hat! :-)
ReplyDeletegreat SWF photo. I wonder what it looks like under the coat and hat.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting photo for SWF. Love the water cooler being covered up, it was like being dressed up. :)
