Indian Blankets

Photo 062

Lesser known than the famous Texas Bluebonnets, the Indian Blanket flower is quite pretty. It blooms later than Bluebonnets so it doesn't have to share the limelight. It is a couple of weeks past prime right now. I took this and forgot to post it earlier.

It is amazing to me the variety of wildflowers in south Texas. I am really enjoying getting to know more about flowers that I did not know growing up in North Carolina.

Have a good week everyone.

I like the name of these flowers. They do look like the weavings of an Indian blanket.
Thanks for your nice comments on my blog. Its always appreciated.

These flowers are purty! And I've heard of them before, but now I have an image a great one too to match it to in my head. I'll have to see if I can plant some of these.

If you see them, you know what you should do, WebOJ. If anyone sees this in their area, do let us all know.
