Lemongrass
We have had a lot of rain lately. I think it has been the wettest (?) May I have seen in a while. So, as a wonderful result, all our plants are nice and green. This is a lemongrass plant that my mom gave me year before last. She always has a wonderful garden no matter where she lives and her gardens always seem to thrive! It was shaky at first but my cutting from her original survived and now I have successfully split it and put some stalks in a pot.

Hi Thien,
I have some dried lemongrass in my cabinet but I've never used it for seasoning. Do you dry yours and cook with it?
Glad you lemon grass is growing. Your watertower pics are cool. Maybe they will give it a nice artsy paint job. I'll be checking back to see......
I love when I sucessfully grow something. The lemongrass looks so lush.
In response to the lemongrass comments, I haven't dried (I have used it fresh) any but I do freeze some for the winter. You can smash it up after it thaws and the scent is wonderful. As a marinade for meats, I chop some and add to oil and soy sauce, then grill. It's yummy.
Also, when I'm not feeling well, my mom use to place fresh cut lemongrass into a big pot, boil it, sometimes would add lemon tree leaves, then place me under a blanket with the pot. She use to say it helps to sweat out whatever ails you. I still love doing that. It is very relaxing and soothing, especially when you have a cold or the flu and fever.
The water tower is still under wraps. They keep raising and lowering the skirt so we'll keep an eye on it and I'll post any significant change or if the work is completed.
beautiful green ......
Lemongrass is known for its calming effect that relieves insomnia and stress. I like using them in my cooking or drink lemon grass drink. Just boil lemon grass with some water. It helps to relieve stress and insomnia when taken this way.
What a great image! I would love to be able to use it on my website when it is up and running - would that be ok?
Ecosap, I can't find you so please email me. You can use the photo if you would link it back to my blog and I would like a little info on your site out of curiosity.
