Mosheim Mansion

Big house

This was taken when I exited the Hair Haus through the back door. The Mosheim Mansion most recently served as the home to a business (but the owners did live there too, that's nice!) called Carter Memorial Co. but they have moved to another Seguin location now. According to a January 25 article in our paper, next up for the house is bed and breakfast -- our only one in town if it opens as expected in June of this year. The property is listed in the National Registry of Historical Places and as it transforms into our B&B, I will keep you posted. I hope they have an open house so I can get a peek inside. Now, if we can just get those power lines buried, as the are close to the square. That'd make for much nicer pictures!

It looks wonderful, I bet it would make a great B&B.

Ah, power lines. . . .When we lived in Las Vegas, most new construction had them underground, thank heaven.

Wonderful mansion! Re: power lines, I've always envied artists who are no obligation to paint the darn thing in. Poor photographers have to deal with reality.

There used to be a B&B on N. Austin just south of Kingsbury. I used to deliver pizza to the people who owned it. They always had me come in their side gate and walk across their back yard to the back door. It's a pretty place, big and old, but at the time I thought it was a little spooky. Later I read in a book that it's supposed to be haunted, ha ha.

Thank you everyone for your comments. Yes, those darn power lines. Sigh.

Alan, are you talking about the HUGE yellow house or the one closer to the gas station near the Austin/Kingsbury intersection. If it's the latter, that B&B is now a private residence. You should see what they've done. I'll try to snap a pic for you.

What a lovely historical mansion! Back then when it was build they didn't imagine they will have ugly power lines in the way! I'm glad in las Vegas they now bury them.

I think it's the yellow house. When I used to go there, the house occupied only one corner of a very large lot that was mostly open with lots of trees.

It looks like it would make a terrific B&B. Hope the plans go through.

I had an unexpected trip to Seguin yesterday and I took a drive down Austin Street. The house I was thinking of isn't the yellow house, it's the tan or beige house a little farther up and on the same side of the street. It has a wooden privacy fence around the back yard now, but back when I used to deliver pizza there it only had a wire fence with a gate on the back corner.
